Styling Tools

The Professional Wide Iron has 50% wider plates than the Professional Iron, helping to make straightening thick or longer hair easier.

When choosing the right temperature, hotter is not always better.

Too much heat and you risk serious damage to your hair by making it dry and brittle which leads to breakage. We recommend using a lower temperature if your hair is damaged and already prone to breakage, fine and for areas prone to extra damage like the hair that frames your face.

Here’s a guide showing the temperatures our stylists would use to achieve lasting curls or waves. Try the recommended temperature for your hair type and see what works for you.

Pro tip: if you have trouble with your hair dropping out when you curl it – try turning the temperature down and see the difference.

  • When you’re drying your hair before using your iron, smooth your hair particularly if it’s naturally curly to give you a head start and a solid foundation for your chosen style.

Pro tips:

  • Tight curls or bouncy waves? Great news! You’re able to achieve both with your Kaleo Professional Curling Tong. For tight curls use smaller sections of hair, and wind it tight on the barrel of your tool. If you’re after a looser wavy look, use larger sections of hair and keep it looser while setting on the barrel.
  • The clip helps by holding your hair on the barrel while it sets, press the barrel clip handle to open the clip, wind a 2cm section of your hair around the barrel then release the handle once your hair is in place on the barrel. Hold for around 10 seconds then press the barrel clip handle again to release your hair and slide it off the barrel

When not in use, remember to unplug your tool, allow it to cool completely and store it out of reach of children in a safe and dry location.

Never wrap the cord around the tool as this will cause the cord to wear prematurely and break.

Handle cord carefully and avoid jerking, bending sharply, twisting, or straining cords, especially at plug connections

To adjust the temperature press the + or – button. The temperature can be increased or decreased in 10ºC increments on the irons and 5 ºC increments on the clip curler. The temperature will flash 3x then stay constant to indicate the temperature selected.

Your tool display its current temperature as it moves to your chosen temperature, so you always know when it’s ready and what temperature you’re using on your hair.

Your tool will default to that temperature you used it at last and next time you use it, will start at that temperature.

Read more about selecting the right temperature or your hair.

We have included a lock feature on our irons for safer storage and to reduce risk of scalding. To unlock your iron, remove the heat resistance cover and slide the lock/unlock switch to release the plates.

Every time you use heat on your hair you should ensure you protect it with a quality heat protectant. Apply to your hair and comb through to ensure its evenly distributed before you get started.

Cleaning:

Before cleaning your Kaleo hot tools ensure that it is unplugged from the power socket and completely cold.

To achieve the best results, we recommend:

  • Home use: Once your hot tool is cool, wipe the barrel or plates with a damp cloth once a week.
  • Salon Professionals: Once your hot tool is cool wipe the barrel or plates with a damp cloth once per day.

Product Build-up:

If there is product build up on your curler or iron that a damp cloth cannot remove, do not use harsh detergents, abrasives, solvents or chemical cleaners and never immerse your hot tools in water.

Use a cleaner specially formulated for curler or flat irons, these non-toxic cleaners quickly and safely remove build up caused by most styling products.
